jcoliz/listswebapp repository overview

ListsWebApp V4

This is a personal project for me to learn Nuxt and Vue.JS. The container is built in Azure Pipelines for the CI pipeline with each push to Azure DevOps.

WARNING: This container is not for use in production, because it doesn't support https. This app is deployed to an Azure App Service and an Azure Static Apps instance, using an Azure Pipelines deploy step--not using this container.

Use case

Today's busy family needs a central shared grocery list. Every member of the family needs to have access to it anywhere in the world they happen to be at the time. They use a mix of Apple phones, Android phones, tablets, laptops, and desktop PCs. Households will have a mix of technology savvy, from technology professionals, to grade-school children.

How to try it

  1. Ensure you have docker installed
  2. Run docker compose -f oci://jcoliz/listswebapp:latest up -d --wait
  3. Navigate to http://localhost:5300/register?code=ec493b28-18fb-4b0d-a686-f0eb230678b3. (Note insecure http).
  4. Create a new account
  5. Sign in with that account
  6. After logging in, the Browse page will offer to start with an example list. Click "Seed" to begin with this data.
  7. Tear down the project when complete, with docker compose down

Other things you can try

  1. Open the Aspire dashboard at http://localhost:18888/ to follow along with logs, traces, and metrics.
  2. Explore the backend API in swagger at http://localhost:5301/swagger. Note that you can find an access token on the profile page after you log into the UI. You can paste that into the 'Authorize' box to explore authenticated APIs.
  3. Before running docker compose up, set the environment variable TESTPWORD. This will allow you to log in with the user named Tester, and to run the functional tests.
  4. Run the functional tests. If you've clone the code repository locally, and set the TESTPWORD environment variable before running the compose project, you can run functional tests against your container with scripts/Run-Tests.ps1 -Functional.
  5. Review the Gherkin features in tests/Functional/Features/V4 for a thorough explanation of what the app can do.
