Docker Image

Package all of the utilities, nasl, and plugins into a docker image that can be used to execute the utilities with only Docker as the depenency.

Use

  • Use a mounted file system to mount local directory into the docker image. It is suggested to mount the local audits directory to /audits.
  • Use docker run to use the image with the preferred utility.

Utilities

check_audit

A utility that uses the compliance plugins to evaluate an audit file and provide that the plugin can evaluate the audit for proper syntax.

  • Put custom audit file into local directory named "audits"
  • Execute docker image with "audits" directory mounted.
docker run -it --rm -v $(pwd)/audits:/audits audit-utils:latest check_audit /audits/my_custom_audit.audit
check_service

A web service that provides the same audit checking capability as the check_audit utility. This is the default entrypoint for the container if no other commands are provided.

  • Start service and use a web browser to interact with the service.
docker run -it --rm -p 8081:8080 audit-utils:latest check_service

  • Put custom audit file into local directory named "audits"
  • Put private key file into local directory named "audits"
  • Execute docker image with "audits" directory mounted.
docker run -it --rm -v $(pwd)/audits:/audits audit-utils:latest sign_audit -k /audits/private.pem /audits/my_custom_audit.audit

  • Execute docker image with "audits" directory mounted to convert audit file to JSON format.
docker run -it --rm -v $(pwd)/audits:/audits audit-utils:latest audit_to_json /audits/my_custom_audit.audit
audit_header_to_json

  • Execute docker image with "audits" directory mounted to extract audit header as JSON.
docker run -it --rm -v $(pwd)/audits:/audits audit-utils:latest audit_header_to_json /audits/my_custom_audit.audit
json_to_audit

Converts a JSON structure to an audit format.

  • Put JSON file into local directory named "audits"
  • Execute docker image with "audits" directory mounted to convert JSON back to audit format.
docker run -it --rm -v $(pwd)/audits:/audits audit-utils:latest json_to_audit /audits/my_audit.json
